BALLINGER - If it’s one thing that The Last Chapter/Pumpkin Patch/Old Town Christmas has shown, it’s that they are fully invested in this area. Their construction has been going on for years, and will continue on into the future. Most of the wood and other items are from farms and ranches in, and around, Runnels County.
That’s right! The 5th Annual Hallow Fest is on the way on Oct 29-31, starting at 6 pm at the Ballinger Community Center! One of the most attended events of the year, Hallow Fest is free and open to all. This event has been bringing wows, screams, and OMG! moments to participants for several years. True to form, every year, the theme is different and is usually kept secret until the night of Halloween. There are two parts to Hallow Fest: The Haunted House, which will be open from Oct 29-31 and the Kandy Korral Trunk or Treat only open on Halloween, Oct 31.
BALLINGER - A lot has changed with the paper in the last few months. I interviewed our editor, Bill Hancock, in person and by email, to give an overview of all that has been going on with the newspapers new look. Well, he kind of asked me to because he didn’t want to write a lengthy story.
This challenge is open to ALL students in Runnels County. The student who clips the most original excepts will get a free lunch with retired Rear Admiral Albert Kelln in January.

BALLINGER - Neighbors and Law Enforcement...that is what Ballinger Night out is all about! The Ballinger Police Department is hosting the annual community relations- building event at the police department on Oct 4 at 5:30 pm with free food, games, prizes and information. Held on the first Tuesday in October, the event is held to celebrate, and continue to build, a strong sense of community between all members of Ballinger, between her citizens and First Responders.
Ballinger -If you know Eloyed and Heather Fuentes, you know that their home population increased by two in late summer this year. They have welcomed two female, foreign exchange students for the school year. I recently had the opportunity to interview the family and have learned so much about the culture shocks, surprises, and a whole lot more.
