According to the Texas State Bar website, there are 622 veterans in Runnels County. On Monday, November 11, 2024, every one of those veterans had a reason to be thankful for the people of Runnels County as Ballinger, Winters, and Miles held ceremonies to honor veterans.
WINTERS- On 11/11/2024, Winters ISD held their annual Veterans Day Celebration in the Winters Blizzards gymnasium. The morning began with a special breakfast being served by Tami Richards' culinary students in the Special Events Center decorated in patriotic red, white, and blue.
WINTERS- The sun was shining on a bright blue morning, but there was a chill in the air on the coolest morning of the fall so far. It could have been the recent cool front that blew through or maybe it was caused by a fierce group of Blizzards waiting to storm the field in the West Texas Rural Youth Football League Division II Championship game.
RUNNELS COUNTY - Robin Burgess started working for Runnels County on September 1st, 1979, when she was sworn in as a deputy. She'd soon become the county tax assessor/collector when elected to the position in 1992, starting her new career in 1993.
