On October 29, 2022, the Colorado River Municipal Water District hosted the first youth deer hunt of the 2022/2023 season for kids from Texas Children’s Ranch. Five boys and three girls participated in the doe and spike hunt, which is a great management tool for controlling deer numbers. More importantly, the event provides wonderful opportunities and experiences of the outdoors and hunting to those that might not normally get the chance to do so. The young hunters harvested a total of eight deer.

Last Sunday the ‘Biggest Methodist Church’ in Miles had a fellowship meal after church. This meal was provided by some special folks in the church and was intended to get members back into the church groove again after this pandemic experience. We packed the house.

I believe it does qualify as local since there are people from Runnels County who not only take part in the race, but there are others who participate in Camp Able for therapy.

Remembering Bertha (Bert) Voss Dorner and Andy Dorner began many years ago when we were all very young. We would visit with Aunt Emilia (Emily) Bertha Vogler and Uncle Edwin Voss, where they lived in Wingate, Texas.
