Ballinger folks help Texas Children’s Ranch youth deer hunt

On October 29, 2022, the Colorado River Municipal Water District hosted the first youth deer hunt of the 2022/2023 season for kids from Texas Children’s Ranch. Five boys and three girls participated in the doe and spike hunt, which is a great management tool for controlling deer numbers. More importantly, the event provides wonderful opportunities and experiences of the outdoors and hunting to those that might not normally get the chance to do so. The young hunters harvested a total of eight deer.

Fellowship and Veterans

Last Sunday the ‘Biggest Methodist Church’ in Miles had a fellowship meal after church. This meal was provided by some special folks in the church and was intended to get members back into the church groove again after this pandemic experience. We packed the house.

Dilapidated Trees

I sat in the shade of a deformed and dilapidated cedar tree and listened to the windmill pumping water into the cement trough. With each pull of the sucker rod, water gurgled and gushed, and the sound was soothing in a strange sort of way.
