RUNNELS COUNTY EVENT CALENDAR

Norton Homecoming Norton Homecoming will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, at the Norton Community Center. A brisket luncheon with all the trimmings and desert will be served for $12.00 a plate. Proceeds from this fundraiser support improvements to the Norton Community Center building.

The Newspaper Chronicles

Saturday night I went to the Angelo State football game. The game was good but what got my attention was the uniforms the Rams wore. They were wearing a combination of three different eras. I recognized some of the different colors, but had never seen this particular combination before. I often watch a game on television and realize I had been rooting for the wrong team because they were not wearing their regular colors. Anyone else have that problem?

Clarification on collisions

I was “informed” last week that the stats I gave on a particular accident were incorrect because an additional victim had died at the hospital. When we report on a collision, we report on the details released at that time, not afterward. There are times where a news release will be made that a victim had died at the hospital. In that case, we will update our reporting. Believe it or not, people will feed us incorrect information at times because they’re giving us something that that they heard or saw on social media We don’t put supposition or assumptions on our stories.

Athlete of the Week

The Runnels County Register’s Athlete of the Week this week is the entire Winters Blizzards football team. They’ve had a rough year of ups and downs, but they never stop fighting. They play hard from the first play to the last play, regardless of the score.
