Dawson Lavon McGuffin

Dawson Lavon McGuffin joined our Father in heaven on August 7, 2022. He was born September 7, 1935 in Eden, TX to Hugh Lee McGuffin and Annie Francis Laman. He first enlisted into the US Navy in November of 1953, and humbly served our country until July 1976. He was always in awe of the fact that a boy from a small town in Eden was able to see the world. Dawson married Patsy Jean McGuffin, whose life we celebrated in January of this year, after a short courtship in 1957. The two are now joyfully reunited with one another. Dawson and Pat’s 64 years of marriage was blessed with three children, Roann McGuffin of San Angelo, Dawson McGuffin Jr and wife Kyla of Abilene and Kayleen Bergman and husband Lewis of Abilene. He was a devoted and proud Paw Paw to five grandchildren, Kandon Paul and husband Kyle, Brik McGuffin and wife Maegen, Addison Ramirez and husband Seth, Hayden Bergman and Madeline McGuffin, along with seven great grandchildren. They settled in Winters, where Dawson impacted many young lives throughout his term as the maintenance tech and bus driver for Winters ISD. He had so much pride in the people of Winters, and served as their Mayor for many years. He and Pat enjoyed many years of working with Meals on Wheels and he served as an Elder at the Winters Church of Christ. Dawson had many friends throughout the community and spent many early morning hours visiting and catching up on local news while having coffee at Wes-T-Go. The earthly pain of his loss is accompanied by the peace we feel knowing that he is now at the right hand of our Creator, and will be with the love of his life for eternity. We will miss him until we are reunited with him in Heaven.
