SAN ANGELO - The Ballinger varsity track had a good showing during the Angelo State High School Track Meet held last week in San Angelo. The meet was held at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field on the ASU campus on Wednesday.

SAN ANGELO - The Ballinger varsity track had a good showing during the Angelo State High School Track Meet held last week in San Angelo. The meet was held at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field on the ASU campus on Wednesday.

In the men’s 100 meter event, Deaundre Manley ranked 15th with a 11.94 on the clock. Jack Marshall of Brady took first place in the event with a time of 10.99.

In finals in the 400 meter, senior Xavier Nunez would finish in 10th place with a time of 56.97.

In the 1600, sophomore Andres Garza would begin to show his strengths with a number eight spot and a time of 20.26. He would go on to place fourth in the 3200 with a final time of 11:41.01. He placed fifth in the 400X4 Relay finals. Garza also placed eighth in the discuss with a throw of 112 feet.

Other standouts included Weston Rollwitz who logged a 5 foot, 6 inch jump placing sixth in the high jump.

Junior Kennedy Byler took fourth place in the varsity pole vault.

Divad Briones took 11th in shot put and freshman Joe Marcus Mireles took sixth place in the men’s varsity long jump.

The Ballinger Lady Cats had a solid showing as well. In the 100 meter Women’s Varsity senior Elyssa Korn-Flores placed fourth with 12.72 on the clock. In the 400, sophomore Katy Duke placed 14th in the finals with time of 1:09.83.

Junior Sydney Bowman came through on the 1600 meter race with a fifth place showing with 5:44.61 on the clock. Senior Kenzey Sanchez ranched 13th in the race with 6:06.47 on the clock.

Sydney Bowman ranked seventh in the 3200 meter race with a final score of 13:23, followed by Sanchez who took eighth place with 13:27.96 and Lexie Davenport who place 10th with a time of 13:54.99.

The Lady Cats ranked fourth overall in the 4X400 Relay with a time of 4:17.74.

Julie Martinez placed 10th in shot put. In the Women’s Varsity Discus, junior Jadyn Gore made 10th place, freshman Chelsea Martinez was 12th followed by Jessica Castleberry in 14th place.

Senior Bryla Perkins placed third in the Women’s High Jump with a five foot jump.

Junior Haley Matschek placed 11th in the Women’s Varsity Triple Jump with a total of 9.48.
