The Ballinger Bearcats routed the host Uplift Heights basketball team by a final score of 72-27 in the non-league game Friday, Dec. 29 in Dallas.

The Ballinger Bearcats routed the host Uplift Heights basketball team by a final score of 72-27 in the non-league game Friday, Dec. 29 in Dallas.

“We played pretty well and had pretty good defense,” Coach Jamal Anene said. “We

ended up pressing them and they weren’t able to get much going.”

As a team the Bearcats shot 50 percent from the field, Anene said.

Chance Parker was the player of the game with 17 points, four rebounds and five steals.

The Bearcats faced the Abilene Christian Panthers on Tuesday in a non-league game. Ballinger will attempt to move on its 13-4 season record. The Panthers enter the game with a 8-6 record after their 65-45 non-league loss to Abernathy.

With the defeat, Uplift Heights moves to 0-3 on the year.

On Thursday, Dec. 28, the Bearcats lost 91-56 in a non-league bout with Dallas Thunder Blue. Backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting Bearcats.

Parker was the player of the game after scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds.

“We had a very slow start on the first half,” said Anene. “They shot over 50 percent from the field.”

With the win, Dallas Thunder Blue upgrades its record to 5-12 on the season.

The Bearcats lost to Casady 66-54 on Dec. 27, in Dallas and the player of the game there was Kenyan Gonzales, after scoring eight points, four assists and four rebounds.

The Bearcats faced Abilene Christian High School, and went into the contest with a 13-4 record with ACH's 8-6 record.

The Bearcats face 5A Lakeview in non-district game Friday 6 p.m. in San Angelo.
