The Lady Blizzards split their games this week, defeating Grape Creek and losing to Eden. On Tuesday, Winters traveled to Grape Creek dropping the Lady Eagles, 46-21.

Defense was the name of the game, as the Lady Blizzards only allowed Grape Creek to score four points in the first half, taking a 15-4 lead at half-time. Winters blew the game open in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Eagles, 23-7, to take a 38-11 lead into the final period. Grape Creek outscored Winters, 10-8, in the fourth quarter for the final margin. Monique Carrillo had 15 points and six rebounds. Skylar Lee had an all-around game with 11 points, nine rebounds and seven steals.

Aimee Green added eight points, five assists and four steals, while Cha-Cha Lovelace had seven points to go along with five assists.

The JV Lady Blizzards improved their record to 4-6 with a 39-10 win over Grape Creek’s JV. Miranda Rodriguez and Sugar Hunter had 10 points a piece in the win.

On Friday, the Lady Blizzards traveled to Eden and were defeated by the Lady Bulldogs, 55-50. The first quarter was an exciting back and forth affair, with Winters leading 15-14. In the second quarter, Eden outscored Winters, 19-7, to take a 33-22 lead at halftime. The 3rd quarter was more of the same, as the Lady Bulldogs outscored Winters, 16-8, to take a 49-30 lead into the final period. In the 4th quarter, the Lady Blizzards went on a 20-5 run to cut the lead to 54-50 with under two minutes remaining. However, that was as close as they got, as Eden held on for the 55-50 win. Carrillo had 20 points and 13 rebounds, while Karlee Busher had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Green had nine points and five steals, while Lovelace had seven assists.

The Lady Blizzards are now 12-5 on the season and will open District 7-2A action this week. They have an open date on Tuesday, then travel to Forsan on Friday to face the Lady Buffs. JV will play at 5pm and the Varsity immediately after.
