American Legion Post 572 in San Angelo is bring American Legion baseball to West Texas in 2018. Any town that as a legion post is eligible to field a team. If you don't have a legion post, go to the nearest town that does. The teams will be composed of players age 13 to 18 years old and must consist of at least nine players and not more than 18.

In order for the league to form we are going to need commercial sponsors from the towns as it cost $175 per play of $2,800 per team. The teams will also require adult coaches.

The opening season tournament will be played May 31 through June 2, 2018. League play will begin on June 3 and runs through July 10, 2018 with games on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Each team will play 12 regular season games with local and possible state tournaments. It will then go into the play off scheduled end with the World Series In North Carolina. If we can get the league formed here, the 2019 state tournament will be held in San Angelo.

There will be a representative from the state office in San Angelo Dec. 9. The person will be at the VFW hall on 125 S. Browning Street at 10 a.m. to answer questions that any one has. To get current information, contact Jim Cox at 325-763-2265 or email at sanangelolegionbb@yahoo.com.

We would like to register teams in the area between Big Lake all the way to Kerrville. We need at least eight teams from these areas to have a strong league.
