The Winters Cross Country teams have been busy since school started.

The Winters Cross Country teams have been busy since school started. On Thursday, Sept. 14, the Lady Blizzards competed in the Bob Fuller Cross Country meet in Miles. In the varsity division, Hailey Renfro medaled in 8th place out of 94 girls. Natalie Lara placed 18th. In the JV Girls division, Marley Smith came in second place out of 47 girls. Esmeralda Gallegos placed 13th.

On Tuesday Sept. 12, the Winters Junior High Cross Country teams competed at the Eldorado Invitational. In the 8th grade boys race, Trent Hamilton medaled in 8th place. In the 8th grade girls race, Anastasia De La Cruz finished in 13th. In the 7th grade boys race, Nico Rodriguez placed 3rd overall. In the 7th grade girls race, Valentina Costa finished in 17th place.

On Saturday, Sept. 9, the Winters teams competed in the Hardin Simmons Invitational with the following results: HS Girls Varsity – Natalie Lara – 5th, Hailey Renfro – 6th, Jezebel Gonzalez – 10th, Monique Carrillo – 13th, and Lucy Vega – 14th. Overall, the Girls Varsity placed 2nd as a team. HS JV Girls – Marley Smith – 3rd, Esmeralda Gallegos – 4th, Harmony Esquivel – 5th, and Skylar Lee – 6th.

The JH also competed in the Hardin Simmons meet, but only running a one mile course. The following athletes placed: JH Boys – Houston Esquivel – 3rd and Trent Hamilton – 8th. JH Girls – Anastasia De La Cruz – 8th and Mckenzie Ventress – 9th. The JH Girls placed 4th overall as a team.
