The Ballinger Bearcats started two-a-days on Monday August 7 and have hit the ground running, as they have to learn a brand new offense and defense in a very short amount of time. After putting pads on last Friday, with contact being allowed by UIL after four days, they have finally been able to really see what they have.

"Even with all of the new players this year you can see where the team is starting to gel," said junior receiver and defensive back Damian Willborn. "We have really embraced the new players as part of the team and they are stepping up themselves."

Junior lineman Adolph Medina said pace has been stepped up during practice this year.

"We are practicing at a much tougher pace this year," Medina said. "Players know what to expect and what they want. We are putting everything all together and coming at it with a different look."

Medina returns for his second varsity season after making the varsity squad as a sophomore a year ago.

The Bearcat varsity and junior varsity travel to Jim Ned Friday to take on the Indians in a pre-season scrimmage. Next week, the Bearcats will play the Winters Blizzards.
