The 31st Annual Carnegie Library Golf Tournament was held at the Ballinger Country Club, Saturday, July 15. Seventeen two-person teams participated in the event, which was deemed a huge financial success for the library…and lots of fun for the participants. This tournament is the major fundraiser for the library, earning almost $ 14,500, which will provide operating income for several months.

Local businesses and individuals sponsored the tournament, as well as donated items for the raffle. The Ballinger Noon Lions club furnished a hamburger meal and Dankworth Packing Company furnishing the sausage for the sausage wraps. Rangel Brothers Family Restaurant prepared the breakfast burritos, with food sales adding additional income for the library.

The winners for the tournament in the first flight included Aaron Poehls and Colby Grimes who won first place, second place went to Lynn Turner and Abe Jean and third place went to Roy Aviles and Shorty Zertuche. In the Second Flight, first place went to Randy Flint and Joe David West, second place went to Jim Fryar and Danny Slaughter and third place went to Gary and Vickie Watson.

Rick Sonnenberg won “closest to the hole” on the fifth hole and Linda Cowart received the award for the “longest drive” for the fourth hole.
