The Ballinger Elite baseball team will be headed to the Texas Teen-Age Baseball 15U Tournament to be held the week of July 24 in Stephenville.

The 15U division includes players from 13-15 years old.

The team placed second in the league and is part of the Ballinger Youth Sports Association.

Coach and Manager Daniel Cavazos, will be working with the 15 member team in coming weeks along with coaches Quinton Watkins, Randy Kiser and Jayden Martinez, to ready the team for the tournament.

On Tuesday, June 20, the team defeated the Miles Bulldogs 8-0 after players Ethan Carlisle and Gabriel Martinez helped pitch a one-hitter game.

“That propelled us to the state tournament,” Cavazos said.

He said he is proud of the whole team, but especially the veterans D.J. Cavazos, Fernando Falcon, Davey Martinez and Christian Watkins.

“They were the leaders of the team,” Cavazos said. “They were a real good influence on the younger members.”

Cavazos, who has been coaching for nine years offered a big thanks to the parents.

“The parents of the team are really super great and they make things easy on the coaches,” Cavazos said. “I want to thank the parents for their participation and support throughout the season.”

Cavazos also expressed his appreciation to the Ballinger Independent School District.

“I want to thank them for allowing us to play on those excellent fields,” Cavazos said.
