Richard Wayne Lett, Sr., 70, of Abilene, formerly of Winters died March 18, 2018.

Richard Wayne Lett, Sr., 70, of Abilene, formerly of Winters died March 18, 2018. He was born August 28, 1947 in Stamford to Allene and Foster Lett. He moved with his family to Winters as a child and went to school there until he joined the United States Army in 1968. In 1969 he met Brigitte Pruss and they were married on June 5, 1970 in Augsburg, Germany. They moved to Winters, Texas in February 1971. He worked for a short time at Dry Manufacturing until he starting working for Halliburton in 1974. He retired from there in 1998. In 1999 he started working at Abilene State Supported Living Center as an electrician retiring in 2012. He loved the outdoors and has participated in Bar-B-Que cook-offs and had great success at it.

He is survived by his wife, Brigitte Lett of Abilene. 3 children: Michael Pruss and wife Clandia of Augsburg, Germany, Richard Lett of Kermit, Texas and Rachel Lett of Carlsbad, Texas. 1 brother: Gary Lett and wife Loraine of Abilene. 2 sisters: Janice Poindexter and husband Wayne of Winters and Susie Hash of Hawley. 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allene and Foster Lett and 1 brother, Ray Gene Lett.

The family will receive friends at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday March 21, 2018 at Winters Funeral Home. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday March 22, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

The family request memorials be made to Hospice of the Big Country or Abilene State Supported Living Center.
