After WWII, her family settled in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she attended school and worked until she married John David Middleton; they lived the next 18 years in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1977, they moved to the area known as Pecan Wells, Texas, where they enjoyed their country life and raising goats.
