Mary was born on January 2, 1924, in Coleman, Texas. She graduated from Coleman High School and then attended Abilene Christian College where she graduated with a business degree. After graduating college, Mary moved to San Angelo where she worked as a bookkeeper for the Rural Electrification Association (now the Concho Valley Electric Coop) in the 1940s. She then worked for San Angelo College through the 1950s and 60s and ended her career at Texas Cable Vision in the 1970s. Throughout this time, she served as a member and President of the Business and Professional Women’s Club for several years. In the 70s, Mary retired and traveled extensively all over the world, visiting all four corners of the United States, as well as, the Inside Passage in Alaska, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, Canada, France, Scotland, and England to name a few.

Mary was an avid reader, crossword puzzle solver, tennis lover, and theatre patron. Throughout the 70s, Mary was an active member of the Angelo Civic Theatre where she acted in a number of productions. She also had an affinity for owls and was known for her sharp wit. Her nurses often referred to her as sweet and feisty.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents Louis Emet and Donnie King Walker of Coleman. She is survived by her immediate family, son Jim and wife Debb Dallas of Ballinger, grandchildren Deidra Dallas of Ballinger, Derek Dallas of Snyder, and Dane and wife Mary Dallas of Austin. In the last weeks of her life, she met her great-grandson Abel Matthew Dallas.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living and the nurses at Kindred Hospice of San Angelo, especially Angela, for their love and support during this time. Your dedication to taking care of Mary was an incredible blessing to our family. Visitation for Mary Dallas was held at Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo on Friday, October 6 from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral services were conducted at the Coleman City Cemetery on Saturday, October 7 at 3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, Mary requested that donations be made in her name to the Tom Green County Library, Ballinger High School Theatre Department, or the Snyder High School baseball program. Family and friends are encouraged to leave condolences online at www.johnsons-funeralhome.com
