The public is invited to the Ballinger ISD Annual Federal Advisory Program Consultation Meeting at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 21 in the Ballinger ISD Administration Board Room. The Local Advisory Council will be meeting to help evaluate the 2017-18 school year and plan and organize the federal programs /funds for 2018-19 school year. Programs include: Title I, A (Improving Basic Programs), Title I, C (Migrant), Title II,A (Teacher & Principal Training and Recruitment),Title III (Limited English Proficient) Title IV,A (Supporting Effective Instruction) and Title VI,B (Rural and Low Income) as well as The Safe and Drug Free Schools Act.

Winters lake passes available

WINTERS - Lake passes for Winters Lake are now available at Winters City Hall for $20 each. The passes give visitors access to the north end of the lake for swimming and boating activities. For access or rental of the picnic pavilions, separate reservations are required. Lake passes are available at city hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. CRASE event June 30

BALLINGER - The Ballinger Police Department will be hosting the CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Event) from 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 30 at the Ballinger High School Auditorium. Police Chief Stan Maresch and other law enforcement officials will inform the public on procedures in place in the event of an active shooter event in Ballinger. All concerned citizens are welcome to attend.

The Last Drop

Hot dry weather converged over Runnels County last week but much needed precipitation is in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service in San Angelo.

The NWS indicates the rain was in the forecast Tuesday through Thursday. The remainder of the week calls for hot, summer weather, with a slight cooling off period with temperatures reaching the mid-90s during the day. Overnight lows will be warm, in the mid-70s.

So far this year, Ballinger has received 7.29 inches of rain, Wingate has received 7.80 inches and San Angelo has received 8.42 inches of moisture.
