Each of these students qualified for State by receiving Division I ratings in their respective events in regional UIL solo and ensemble competition earlier this spring.

McKinnon made her third appearance at State Solo and Ensemble Contest, and Laura Brown and Benjamin Colombo made their second appearances this year.

Band directors Janet Wilson and Matthew Cleveland, choral directors Dale Ellis and Ida Lee Ellis, and theater arts director Deidra Dallas served as faculty sponsors for the state event. Matthew Cleveland played the piano accompaniments for the instrumental events and Ida Lee Ellis played the accompaniments for the vocalists.

All directors were in agreement that each of these students prepared and performed to the very best of their abilities. They were great representatives of Ballinger High School.

Parents Phillip and Genni Colombo, and A. J. Colombo, brother of Benjamin Colombo, attended the contest in support of the participants.
