BALLINGER - Citizens turned out early Tuesday, May 15 at Rangel Brothers Restaurant in Ballinger for “Coffee with a Cop” to commemorate National Peace Officers Memorial Day and National Police Week, citizens had a chance to thank the officers of the Ballinger Police Department.

BALLINGER - Citizens turned out early Tuesday, May 15 at Rangel Brothers Restaurant in Ballinger for “Coffee with a Cop” to commemorate National Peace Officers Memorial Day and National Police Week, citizens had a chance to thank the officers of the Ballinger Police Department.

Members of the Ballinger Police Department include Police Chief Stan Maresch, Corp. Ernest Juarez, Animal Control Officer Julie Parsons, Officer Justin Amaro, Officer Chad Mercer and Sergeant Chris Sargent, Officer Suzanne Torres and Officer Pete Tambungu. Office Manager Martha Speckels was also on hand for the event.

During the event, Chief Stan Maresch and the six officers from the Ballinger Police Department and the Animal Control officer shared coffee and breakfast. Tammie Virden, executive director of the Ballinger Area Chamber of Commerce, also attended.

Lots of coffee flowed and the public expressed their gratitude for the dedication of the officers.

Employees from First National Bank of Ballinger walked down to the restaurant to give their thanks.

Local business owner Jennie Fulton offered up thanks by passing out pens to the officers.

Maresch passed out drink tumblers to the department courtesy of State Representative Drew Darby and his wife Clarissa, also owners of Surety Title in Ballinger.
