SAN ANGELO - Detectives with the San Angelo Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division arrested a man in connection with a shooting that occurred around midnight April 5 in the 600 block of West 18th Street.

SAN ANGELO - Detectives with the San Angelo Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division arrested a man in connection with a shooting that occurred around midnight April 5 in the 600 block of West 18th Street.

Officers were dispatched around 12:06 a.m. for the report of a shooting victim. Upon arrival, police located a man lying in the doorway of a residence, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. San Angelo Fire Department personnel arrived and assessed the man’s injuries before transporting him to a nearby hospital for treatment. The victim, age 50, was in stable condition Thursday.

Further investigation revealed that the victim was shot during a robbery carried out by two acquaintances. One of the suspects, identified as 22-year-old Tyler A. Ragland, was located by members of the Department’s Anti-Crime Unit (ACU). Following his interview with investigators, Ragland was arrested for aggravated robbery and an outstanding felony arrest warrant for possession of a controlled substance and transported to the Tom Green County Jail. He remains in custody on bonds totalling $260,000.

Investigators are searching for a second suspect who was described as a black male, approximately 5’07”, and in his mid-forties.
