WINTERS - Enrollment for the 2018-2019 school year, for pre-kindergarten and those kindergarteners who have not enrolled in school before, will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday April 12 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Winters Elementary School.

WINTERS - Enrollment for the 2018-2019 school year, for pre-kindergarten and those kindergarteners who have not enrolled in school before, will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday April 12 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Winters Elementary School.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN GUIDELINES: Parents of children who will be 4 on or before September 1 qualify for pre-kindergarten. Children who will be 5 on or before September 1 and are entering school for the first time as a kindergartner will need to pre-register.

All parents wanting their child to attend pre-kindergarten or who are pre-registering for kindergarten must bring the following documents:

- Birth certificate

- Social Security card

- Shot records

- Parent/guardian driver’s license

- Proof of residency – Must be a current gas, water or electric bill in parent/guardian name.

- Proof of income (current paycheck stub or pay envelope)

To be eligible to attend Pre-K the child must meet the following program requirements:

- Is unable to speak and comprehend the English language; or

is educationally disadvantaged; or

- Is homeless, as defined by 42 U.S.C. Section 1143a, regardless of the residence of the child, of either parent of the child, or of the child’s guardian or other person having lawful control of the child; or

- Is the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority; or

- Is the child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty; or

- Is or has been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services (foster care) following an adversary hearing held as provided by Section 262.201, Family Code; or

- Is the child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award as: a peace officer under Section3106.002, Government Code; a firefighter under Section 3106.003, Government Code; or an emergency medical first responder under Section 3106.004, Government Code.

Please note since income level documentation must be current to qualify, we are required to re-verify income as the new school year approaches. The district will send letters out in August with instructions.

Please note students who do not qualify based on income may register and will not have to pay to attend.

The number of classes and class size depends on enrollment.
