The members will join together to celebrate Winters with a steak dinner on April 10. Steve Keenum from the West Texas Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be the keynote speaker for the annual dinner of the Future of Winters Club.

Keenum has been involved with FCA since his own high school days. As a coach, he continued to be involved with FCA on Adult Leadership Boards. At the conclusion of his coaching career in 2005, he became the director for the Big Country FCA. His influence on young athletes has continued to promote the values of FCA to coaches, students and the community. Recently, Keenum has been involved in following his son, Case Keenum, as a quarterback for several professional football teams. Keenum will share some of those recent highlights from this past season.

The Future of Winters Club is an integral part of the Winters Area Foundation. Money received through memberships is returned to the community in form of grants to local area nonprofits. Also, scholarships are given to local graduating seniors in May.

Each year, members cast ballots to select the organizations in the community to receive grants. Last year members voted to give grants to the Z.I. Hale Museum, Meals on Wheels, the Winters Volunteer Fire Department, Winters 4-H and the Foundation Scholarship Fund.

Since the inception of the Winters Area Foundation, grants and scholarships distributed have totaled over $133,000.

Membership to the Future of Winters Club is open year-round and dues are $120. However, memorials, honorariums, donations and charitable gifts are taken in all amounts and help the WAF award grants as needed. To make a donation, please mail a check to Winters Area Foundation, Box 211, Winters, Texas 79567.
