It's time for a shindig and the 2018 Runnels County Music for Meals to be held Saturday, April 21, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Hall in Rowena is just around the corner. The second annual event raises much needed funds for Meals on Wheels Plus of Abilene and Meals for the Elderly in San Angelo.
This year, Grammy award winning guitarist Brad Davis will join Tom Glosup and Crossfire on stage for the entertainment.
All proceeds benefit Meals on Wheels Plus of Abilene and Meals for the Elderly in San Angelo, both of which provide meals to elderly and at-risk adults in Runnels County. Home delivered meals are provided to more than 150 Runnels County residents, in Winters, Ballinger, Miles, Rowena and Norton and Pumphrey.
The inaugural event held in May of 2017 raised almost $28,000 which was used to provide meals for eligible clients in Runnels County.
Betty Bradley, executive director of Meals on Wheels Plus, called last year’s event a great success.
Davis a singer, songwriter and guitar player extraordinaire is headlining the event with his own brand of “Rockin’ Bluegrass Americana.” Tom Glosup and Crossfire are on the playbill as well and will be performing with Davis. So get ready for an evening of great music and dancing.
Davis will likely be performing his latest release Louisiana Hayride release titled "The Way We Fall Apart." Over the past year, Davis has been busy recording, producing and performing. In February he was the featured performer at Poor David's Pub.
Davis, known for his signature ” double down flatpicking” guitar style, has played with a who’s who of musical royalty in the country, bluegrass and rock genres, including legends Earl Scruggs, Willie Nelson and Marty Stuart and others like Tim McGraw, Steve Earl, John Hiatt, Sheryl Crow, Emmylou Harris and Pam Tillis.
