The Ballinger Memorial Hospital District Health Foundation's Inaugural Boots & Bling Gala held Feb. 24, 2018, drew people from near and far to be a part of the event held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rowena. The Gala included a steak dinner catered by Lowake Steakhouse of Rowena and live music provided by Case Hardin and Randall King.
The evening also included a Silent Auction with many unique and custom items, all graciously donated by local donors and donors from across the state of Texas.
Dancing, fun and fellowship were enjoyed by all with $10,000 being raised by the end of the evening! Funds raised from the Gala were used by BMHD Health Foundation to help meet its goal of raising at least $25,000 by February 28, 2018.
In September of 2017, BMHD Health Foundation was awarded a dollar-for-dollar matching grant by The Meadows Foundation of Dallas with funds stipulated for use towards the replacement of two ambulances used by Ballinger EMS. The Meadows Foundation committed to match dollar-for-dollar funds up to $25,000 raised by BMHD Health Foundation during the period of September 8, 2017 to February 28, 2018.
Funds raised from the Gala and a generous $12,500 donation by Ballinger Memorial Hospital Auxiliary together with funds from other donors and those raised from the sale of UTV raffle tickets all combined to allow BMHD Health Foundation to not only receive the full $25,000 in matching funds but provided additional funds to be used towards the purchase of a cardiac monitor/defibrillator needed for one of the new ambulances.
"The BMHD Health Foundation, its Board of Directors and the board, administration and staff of BMHD wish to thank everyone who in any way helped to make this evening fantastic!," said BMHD CEO and Administrator Rhett Fricke. "We cannot stress strongly enough the importance of the support received both locally and from the surrounding area which not only made this event possible, but which made it a huge success! BMHD Health Foundation is excited to support Ballinger Memorial Hospital District and its endeavor to provide excellent healthcare to Runnels County and the surrounding area! The Foundation looks forward to next year’s Boots & Bling Gala!"
