Amber Carlton threw a four-hitter, Morgan Dufour and Annika Schwartzenberg hit run-scoring singles in the first inning and Lubbock Christian University completed a doubleheader sweep on Tuesday with an 8-0 victory against the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
LCU won the first game 2-1 with four-hit pitching from Monique Francois and eighth-inning RBI singles from Lindzi Clemmer and Sydney Beuthien. The two teams were scoreless through seven before Maritza Rojas broke up Francois' shutout with a single in the top of the eighth.
Francois (8-2) struck out six and walked three. Clemmer and Schwartzenberg finished with two hits apiece.
UTPB (8-16) committed three errors in the second game that led to six unearned runs, four that scored directly on the misplays.
LCU's Averi Miller added a two-run triple in the fifth that ended the game by run rule.
LCU (13-5) has won eight of its last 10 games.
Wayland Baptist finished third and Lubbock Christian University was sixth in the 15-team Arbor Hotels Classic that concluded Tuesday at the Rawls Course.
Indian Hills, led by tournament medalist Ricky Sanders (70-65-70) shooting 11-under, won the tournament by 22 strokes over Dallas Baptist.
Wayland's Michael Valk, with three consecutive rounds of 1-over 73, finished fourth. The Pioneers' Andrew Williamson (77-70-76) tied for seventh, and Emlyn Snyder (76-73-76) tied for 12th.
Leading LCU were Cam Toombs (77-75-73), Jeff Maciejewski (75-73-79) and Garrett Louis (74-76-79). They tied for 12th, 15th and 22nd, respectively, in a field of 78.
