BALLINGER - Sixteen 7th and 8th grade band students from Ballinger Junior High were selected to perform with the Region 6 All Region Band, with the performance held at Ballinger High School on January 27.

Junior High Band Director Matthew Cleveland said Ballinger was second to Sonora (who had 18 students) with the number of players who were selected from the auditions held on Dec. 2. During the auditions, 16 schools competed for a total of 95 places in the All Region Band.

“We were very proud about our students’ showing there,” said Ballinger Junior High Band Director Matthew Cleveland.

The day of the concert, the students gathered at the school and practiced all day on eight selections that were performed that evening. They were under the direction of Barry Morgan, an award winning band director from Lubbock Cooper Middle School.

“We were very happy to have him,” Cleveland said.
