A Ballinger family lost their home, belongings and a vehicle in house fire that occurred Sunday, reports say.

No one was injured in the fire that completely destroyed the home owned by Lisa Villapando at 1105 13th Street. The fire also destroyed one of the family's vehicles.

Ballinger police were first on the scene and when they arrived, four of the family members had already escaped unharmed to the alley behind the home. Villapando was working at the time of the fire.

The Ballinger Fire Department arrived on the scene at 9:42 a.m. to find the living room, carport and kitchen fully engulfed in flames.

"The home was a complete loss," said Assistant Fire Chief Brent Allen. "The fire spread very quickly."

The fire was extinguished by 12:02 p.m. Allen said.

The fire is suspected to have started in the living room area, but the official cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Sgt. Chris Sargent of the Ballinger P.D. stayed at the scene until the fire department arrived to make sure the family remained safe.

"It was very traumatic for them," Sargent said. "But they were very cooperative considering the circumstances."

Family members reported that all of the pets escaped unharmed.

The Ballinger Ministerial Alliance and the Salvation Army are will be assisting the family where needed.

"We have offered to help where we are needed," said Max Pratt of the Ministerial Alliance. "The family is assessing their needs right now."

Donations for the family may be dropped off at Parsons during normal business hours. After hours, donations may be dropped off at the home of Chad McDuffee at 309 N. Broadway Ave.
