Churches throughout Runnels County will be hosting special Christmas Eve services Sunday and services on Christmas Day.

Churches throughout Runnels County will be hosting special Christmas Eve services Sunday and services on Christmas Day.

A Christmas Eve tradition will continue at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena on Sunday when the story of the first Christmas will be told through narrations, scripture readings and music. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. preceding the 7 p.m. Mass.

During the service the St. Joseph Choir will perform Christmas songs and lead in the congregational singing. Several young soloists will also be featured during the service.

St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ballinger will hold Children's Mass at 5 p.m. Sunday. There will be Christmas caroling at 11:30 p.m. before Midnight Mass at midnight. Christmas Day services will be held at 10 a.m.

The Mass will culminate with the hanging of the final ornaments on the Jesse Tree by the children. They will then gather around the Crib and sing “Happy Birthday to Jesus” and “Silent Night.” Everyone is welcome to come and join in celebrating this holy and blessed season. Christmas Day Mass will be held at 8 a.m. at St. Joseph’s.

The Christmas Vigil will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday, Christmas Eve at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Olfen. The congregation will sing Christmas carols and celebrate the season.

The Christmas Vigil will be held at 8:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Miles with Christmas Day services slated for 9:30 a.m.

The First United Methodist Church of Ballinger will hold a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 6 p.m. at the church at 1501 N. Broadway Ave.

Glory Road Cowboy Church at 223 County Road 293 in Ballinger will host Cowboy Christmas Church at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
