BALLINGER - The Ballinger High School Class of 2018 raised $2,500 this fall and that money is earmarked for Aransas County ISD, which was devastated by Hurricane Harvey in September.

Ballinger Senior Class sponsor Wendy Poteet said the students raised the funds via the Senior Carnival held Oct. 21.

In previous years, the money was used for Project Graduation, but they no longer fund that activity so the students were planning to forego the carnival this year.

"But when Harvey hit they had the idea to raise the money for a school down there," Poteet said.

The students had 15 booths which included a cake walk and balloon toss and the event was open to the entire community.

Last week, Ballinger students posed with a big check in the gym which will go to help with the damage incurred by the Aransas County ISD , which reported catastrophic damage to five campuses.

"We will be mailing the check to them," Poteet said.
