BALLLINGER - The City of Ballinger recently put up a roadside memorial honoring Rickey Nombrano, who was killed in a tragic accident on Wednesday, Sept. 20.

BALLLINGER - The City of Ballinger recently put up a roadside memorial honoring Rickey Nombrano, who was killed in a tragic accident on Wednesday, Sept. 20.

The Roadside Memorial is located on South 8th Street and Sealy Avenue.

Nombrano, who was employed for the past 10 years with the city, was killed while operating a piece of heavy equipment in the 300 block of 8th Street.

At the time of the accident, City Manager Bryan Grimes said the “the City of Ballinger suffered a tragic loss of one of our own.”

He is survived by his son, Rickey Nombrano, Jr. and wife, Celeste; his siblings, Oscar Nombrano, Margie Gonzalez and husband, Javier, John Paul Nombrano and wife, Aurora, Arthur Nombrano, Sylvia Nombrano and John Gonzales, Norma Martinez and husband, Ronnie, and Priscilla Gibson and husband, Tony; and his grandson, Oliver Nombrano.
