WINTERS - The Homecoming royalty was announced by the Winters High School officials last week and includes eight students who are up for the official Homecoming King and Queen honors this year.

WINTERS - The Homecoming royalty was announced by the Winters High School officials last week and includes eight students who are up for the official Homecoming King and Queen honors this year.

Macey Gerhart is the 17-year-old daughter of Scott (WHS 1984) and Melissa Gerhart. She s involved in many extra-curricular activities and competes in numerous events through FFA, 4-H and UIL. She has been a regional qualifier in UIL Editorial Writing, area qualifying Ag Advocacy Team and state qualifier on both the FFA & 4-H Livestock Judging Teams, in 4-H Photography and 4-H Food Show. Her leadership in high school has been extensive, as she currently serves as president of the Winters FFA Chapter, Winters 4-H Club, WHS Student Council, WHS National Honor Society and the Senior Class. In her free time, she likes to spend time with family and friends; meeting new people, riding horses and spending time working with her show animals. Following graduation, she would like to pursue a degree in agriculture with an emphasis on Animal Science and minor in Ag. Communications at a major university in Texas. She will be escorted by her father, Scott Gerhart.

Baily Knight is the 18-year-old daughter of Michelle (WHS 1986) and Andy (WHS 1982) Smith and Kelly Knight. While at Winters High School, Baily has been involved in cross-country, basketball, track, and tennis. She has been a regional qualifier in track and named Academic All-District in basketball. She serves as Vice-President of the senior class, reporter for the Winters High School FFA and National Honor Society and is WHS Student Council Secretary. She was a member of the area qualifying One Act Play and was named Honorable Mention All-Star cast. She has been a member of the FFA Vet Tech Team and the regional qualifying Ag-Advocacy Team. In her spare time, Baily enjoys riding horses, showing lambs, working cows and spending time with her twin sister. She plans to attend college following graduation in May to pursue a degree in nursing. She will be escorted by her father, Kelly Knight.

Brenna Knight is the 18-year-old daughter of Michelle (WHS 1986) and Andy (WHS 1982) Smith and Kelly Knight. While at Winters High School, Brenna has been involved in basketball, track, and tennis. She has been named Academic All-District in basketball. She serves as secretary for the Winters High School FFA and National Honor Society and is WHS Student Council Vice-President. She was a member of the area qualifying One Act Play and was named Honorable Mention All-Star Cast. She has been a member of the FFA Vet Tech Team and the Public Relations Team. She has also been a regional UIL qualifier in Poetry. In her spare time, Brenna enjoys riding horses, showing lambs, working cattle with her Papa, getting her nails done with her Ginny, the outdoors and spending time with friends and family. She plans to attend Tarleton State University to earn a nursing degree for a career as a Labor & Delivery Nurse. She will be escorted by her step-dad, Andy Smith.

McCaila Walker is the 18-year-old daughter of Jennifer Walker and Brian Ramirez. She was a member of the Pride of West Texas Blizzard Marching Band on the drum line her freshman and sophomore years and played softball her freshman year. She was also a varsity cheerleader during her junior year, In her spare time, McCaila enjoys spending time with family and friends and spoiling her sister and brother. She will be escorted by her grandfather, Rocky Walker.

Joey Garcia is the 17-year-old son of Jose and Vicki Garcia. While at Winters High School, Joey has participated in football, basketball, baseball and track. Joey was a member of the area qualifying mile relay team. He currently serves as one of the Blizzard Football Team Captains and is also the Senior Class Treasurer. Joey is also involved in Student Council, National Honor Society, and FCCLA. In his spare time he loves to play video games and sports and spend time with friends. After graduation in May, he would like to attend college to pursue a degree in biology and eventually become a pediatrician.

Troy Hernandez is the 17-year-old son of Joe Hernandez and Jenny Hernandez. While at Winters High School, Troy has participated in football, basketball, baseball and track. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, driving around, and spending time with friends. After graduation, he would like to attend Angelo State University to pursue a career in astronomy.

Alonso Mendoza is the 17-year-old son of Jaime and Paula Mendoza. While at Winters High School, he has participated in FCCLA where he currently serves as parliamentarian. He is also a member of the WHS Student Council and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He plays basketball and football and currently serves as a Blizzard Team Captain. In his spare time he enjoys fishing, being involved within the community and spending time with friends and family. Following graduation he plans to attend college and earn a degree in history to pursue a career as a teacher and coach.

Zachary Rodriguez is the 17-year-old grandson of Otelia (Tillie) Gutierrez and Raul Rodriguez. While at WHS, Zach has participated in football, basketball, baseball and track. He is also a member of the WHS Student Council and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In his spare time, Zach enjoys playing sports and spending time with friends and family. Following graduation, he plans to attend Sam Houston State University and pursue a degree in Criminal Justice.
