Winters Homecoming events
WINTERS - Homecoming festivities get underway Friday at Winters ISD beginning with the presentation of the Distinguished Alumni and ending with the crowning of the Homecoming royalty at halftime during the game with Miles.
Three Winters High School graduates will be recognized for their achievements in life during WHS Homecoming festivities at 9 a.m. Friday, October 20 at the Winters ISD Special Events Center. The 2017 honorees are Bailey Mayo, WHS Class of 1954 from Levelland, Texas; Barbara Baldwin Pearce, WHS Class of 1964 from Georgetown, Texas; and Terry Gerhart, WHS Class of 1979 from The Woodlands, Texas.
The pep rally will be held at 3 p .m. and the Homecoming dinner will be served for $8 a plate at the school cafeteria from 5-7 p.m. An Alunmi reception will also be held from 5-7 p.m.There will be a pre-game meal on Friday prior to the football game at the Rock Hotel.
On Saturday, the Z.I. Hale Museum will be open to visitors. Also during the weekend, the Class of 1954 and 1958 will hold reunions.
Glory Road Cowboy Church hosts jackpot
BALLINGER - Glory Road Cowboy Church will host a jackpot event at the Troy Owens Arena at 223 County Road 293 on Saturday, Oct. 21. The event starts at 5 p.m. Several events are slated including Mutton Bustin’ for $25 per entry for riders 50 pounds or under, Calf riding for $25 per entry for ages 10 and under, steer riding for $30 an entry for ages 14 and under and bull riding with the entry fee at $50. Senior Citizen lunch
BALLINGER - The First United Methodist Church in Ballinger will provide a free lunch to Ballinger senior citizens on the second Tuesday of each month at the Senior Citizens Center. The meal will be served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The doors will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to make time for seniors attending to have time for visiting and fellowship. Anyone who needs a ride to the lunch, please call 365-2323. Wheelchairs cannot be transported.
