Name: Samuel J. Mallory
Occupation: Self Employed – HMS Services
Clubs, organizations: I have served in different capacities when and where needed in church, Little League, soccer, YMCA basketball, and YMCA football. I also served as field maintenance, vice president, and president of the BGSA (Ballinger Girls Softball Association) over a period of six years.
Family: I have been married to Laura (Ischar) Mallory for 31 years. We have two children who attended all primary and secondary levels of education through Ballinger ISD and are Bearcat graduates. Our son, Jacob, earned his undergraduate degree and masters from ASU and has been married for two years to Colleen, now our third child. Our daughter, Hannah, attended Christ for the Nations and is now in her second year of college preparing to attend nursing school. Her heart’s desire is to complete her education in this field so she may serve others around the world in places of lack and need through mission’s ministry.
I have had the great opportunity to serve as the Mayor of the Greatest Little Town of Ballinger, Texas since May of 2011. We have had many challenges to continue moving forward with a vision to maintain our Greatest Little Town in Texas status.
At the same time, we endeavor to raise the bar higher so we may solidify water resources for the next 30-50+ years and remain a strong, viable, and sustainable community for many years to come. We continue to maintain vision and set new goals to revitalize our great 131-year old city while updating its antiquated infrastructure.
What do you think you can bring to the position if elected? In addition to wisdom and insight learned as Ballinger’s Mayor for the last 6 ½ years, I have over 22 years of experience in corporate America and worked in Business Development for 10 of those years. In my time as the Mayor of Ballinger, we have continuously set both long and short term goals, and have frequently evaluated the micro and macro views of the business plan to ensure that we are on task. As a small, rural community, we must think outside the box to both attain the short term goals and to arrive at our long term vision.
What do you feel qualifies you for the mayor's position? I am committed to our community and have strong, positive, dependable, and proven leadership. I believe I have exhibited these characteristics in my time as Ballinger Mayor as well as in my life overall. I am excited about the City of Ballinger now and in the future.
