Friday night lights

The Ballinger Bearcats will host the Grape Creek Eagles at Bearcat Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The Winters Blizzards will host the De Leon Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. at Blizzard Stadium. The Miles Bulldogs who defeated the Leakey Eagles 32-7 in their season opener, will face the Rocksprings Angoras Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Krejci Memorial Stadium in Miles.

Area wide Garage Sale Saturday

BALLINGER - The Ballinger Area-Wide Garage Sale gets underway at 7 a.m. Saturday. There is a $5 fee to be listed on the official garage sale map. For more information call the Ballinger Area Chamber of Commerce at 325-365-2333.

Fixed for Life garage sale Sept. 16

MILES - The Fixed for Life gigantic garage sale will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 16 at Weatherby Hall downtown. The hall will be filled with 7,500 square feet of items, including kitchenware, furniture, jewelry, toys, ceramics, housewares, quality clothing for adults and children, knick knacks, holiday decorations, books, DVD's, bedding, crafts and much more. Fixed for Life is a non-profit organization that offers financial assistance for local pet spay and neuter. For more information, call 325-234-7727.

The Last Drop

While storms brewed in and around the area last week, Runnels County received some precipitation according to the National Weather Service in San Angelo.

A cold front moving through early in the week brought with it some chances of precipitation. The chances decrease through the week, with Friday game time weather expected to be clear.

Last week according to the NWS, Ballinger received .26 inches of rain, Wingate received .39 inches and San Angelo recorded a .51 inches of moisture.

Cooler weather is in the forecast, with highs reaching about 85 degrees going into the weekend.

So far this year, Ballinger has received 11.67 inches of rainfall, with 14.26 inches reported in Wingate and 12.43 inches has been recorded in San Angelo.
