Organizers say the revamped festival will be chocked full of fun activities for the whole family this year. Activites will be ongoing all day.

As usual, the event coincides with the beginning of dove season and scheduled Labor Day weekend.

There will be dove hunts, a clay pigeon shoot, a gun show, gun raffle, a Camo Color Run, silent auction and a Camo Kids Fun Zone and live entertainment!

All proceeds of the Dove Fest are given back to the youth and organizations of the community.

Organizers encourage volunteers to sign up to work under an organization and then that organization will get credit for their volunteer hours hours. Rhonda Neal, who is on the committee, said this year is going to be a great year for Dove Fest.

“We really want to encourage folks to come out and spend the day enjoying the music and live auction,” Neal said. “There are door prized given out all day.”

This year, Kris Gordon, a Texas Country sensation that hails from Austin will be performing. Gordon is a homegrown Texan who is considered the real deal" when it comes to country music. It’s found in his West Texas Panhandle origins and his family musical legacy.

Visitors can book dove hunts at several locations near winters for that morning for $70 per person. Archie Jibe is booking the hunts and can be reached at 325-660-8334. All proceeds from the hunts benefit the West Texas Rehabilitation Center. Weekend hunts are also available.

The Clay Pigeon Fun Shoot gets off the ground early and runs from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Various competition shoots will be held at the location, which from North U.S. Highway 83, is east on Rodeo Arena Road. The Gun Raffle will be sporting a number of quality firearms including a Browning Citori White Lightning 12 gauge shotgun, a TPC AR-15 Optics Ready semi-automatic rifle, Remington 700 VTR 22-250 bolt-action rifle, Remington 700 BDL CD .243 cal. Bolt-action rifle, Winchester Super X Pump 26 inch barrel 12 gauge shotgun, Remington 870 Pink Camo 20 gauge pump shotgun, Limber 45 caliber 1911 pistol, a Smith & Wesson M & P9 millimeter and a Heritage 22 LR single action revolver. The raffle tickets are $5 each.

The newest event will be the Camo Run Dove Dash. Registration will be at 9 a.m. at the Winters Community Center and the $25 registration includes a meal ticket and color packet. The first 20 folks to register will receive a t-shirt. For more information call Jonathan Meyer at 325-977-0810.

Lunch will be served from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM and meal tickets will be available under the Big Blue tent at the Winters City Park. Plates will be available in the Community Center with both indoor and outdoor seating available. The gun ticket drawing will follow the meal, so be sure to register for a chance to win! Meal tickets are $10 per person and $7 for a child’s plate and that includes a barbecue lunch, drink, dessert, live band viewing and chance for door prizes.

The Camo Kids Fun Zone will be ongoing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and there will be a “Cutest Camo Kids Contest” 1 p.m.

Silent and live auctions will be held during the fest. The live auction is slated for 1:30 p.m. at the community center.
