Last week, Ballinger Animal Control Officer Julie Parsons was called to the scene of a downed bird. When she arrived, she found a fledgling hawk under a vehicle.

The bird was put into a carrier and taken to a bird rescue. Parsons said that when baby birds fall out of the nest, the best thing to do is to pick them up with a towel and put them on a tree branch, because they are just learning to fly and the parent birds will usually come find them.
