Sporadic thunderstorms have popped up recently over Runnels County, dumping a good amount of moisture on the area. But the forecast for the coming week is hot and dry the National Weather Service in San Angelo reported.

On Sunday, July 9, Ballinger received 1.4 inches of rain, while no rain was recorded in Wingate and only a trace was measured in San Angelo. There were reports of a significant lightning strikes, but no severe damage.

Overall in the past week Ballinger received 2.03 inches of rain, Wingate received 1.22 inches and San Angelo received 1.76 inches of precipitation.

Sunny and hot weather continues this week, with highs reaching mid to upper 90s into the weekend. Forecasters say the forecast calls for sunny and hot weather through the week.

So far this year, Ballinger has received 9.82 inches of rainfall, with 6.84 inches reported in Wingate and 8.99 inches has been recorded in San Angelo.
