BALLINGER - Bishop Michael Sis of the Diocese of San Angelo led a special prayerful procession through Ballinger on Sunday, June 3 and prayed for everyone in the city. Bishop Sis exposed the blessed sacrament and provided an opening benediction at the beginning of the procession.

Bishop Sis and Fr. Yesu Mulakaleti, pastor of St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church led the walking procession around the church property.

The faithful who participated in the walking procession included children who had received their first communion, altar servers, the Knights of Columbus, members of Our Lady of Guadalupe, members of the Altar Society, Eucharistic ministers, invited priests from the Diocese of San Angelo and many visitors from neighboring churches and parishes.

The walking procession was followed by a motorcade procession in which Bishop Sis rode in a specially equipped truck and blessed a variety of locations throughout the city. About 125 vehicles participated in the motorcade procession which traveled south on 6th Street to Strong Avenue, proceeded west on Strong Avenue to 13th Street and continued north on Highway 158, where Bishop Sis made a special stop to bless Ballinger High School. The procession continued back to St. Mary’s where a special fellowship meal was held for all involved.

The entire event, held from 3 to 5 p.m. was broadcast live on KRUN in Ballinger.
