ROWENA - Traditions are wonderful. Parishioners of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rowena will continue a 95-year old tradition on Sunday, November 12, by hosting the annual Fall Festival. With the theme “Celebrating 110 Years of The Light of Faith” the parish will be observing the anniversary of its beginning in 1907.
ROWENA - Traditions are wonderful. Parishioners of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rowena will continue a 95-year old tradition on Sunday, November 12, by hosting the annual Fall Festival. With the theme “Celebrating 110 Years of The Light of Faith” the parish will be observing the anniversary of its beginning in 1907.
A flag raising will begin the day's activities at 10:30 a.m. led by Rowena VFW Post #2126 beginning followed by a balloon release to honor all veterans, POW’s-MIA’s and all members of the armed forces currently serving throughout the world.
The mid-day meal will be served from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and will feature turkey, dressing, Rowena style German sausage and all the trimmings. Parishioners will be making four and half tons of sausage to be used for the meal and to be sold at $5 a pound while the supply lasts. Adult plates and plates-to-go will be $1 each and plates for children 10 and under are $5 each. Plates-to-go will be available at either drive-through or walk up windows.
Games for all ages will be held from 11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. An auction of items donated by merchants, parishioners and friends will begin at 1 p.m. with cotton auction set for 2 p.m. A Country Store will be open throughout the day featuring handmade items, baked and canned goods, plants and home décor.
For those who need extra help, handicapped parking will be available as well as a shuttle to assist those who need help from the parking lot to the hall. All activities will be held at the parish hall and church grounds.
A Sausage Sandwich Supper will be served beginning at 4:30 p.m. The sandwich plus tea will $4.
Mass for festival workers or anyone else who would like to attend will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, at St. Joseph Church with Sunday Mass scheduled for 9:30 a.m. For more information you may call the church office at 325-442-3521 or 325-365-6447.
