BALLINGER - The Ballinger Woman's Club began their 2017-2018 program year on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at the Shakespeare Room at the Carnegie Library.

BALLINGER - The Ballinger Woman’s Club began their 2017-2018 program year on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at the Shakespeare Room at the Carnegie Library.

Officers for the club are President Clydelle Selby, Vice President Ellen McKinnon, Secretary Darlene Stokes, Treasurer Judy Lusby, Historian Sue Morrish, Publicity Chair Darnell Holden and Program Directors Carolyn Slaughter, Kay Smith, and Deborah Jennings.

Kay Smith, who serves on the Carnegie Library Board, gave an interesting review of the library history from the beginning to present. Kay told of several people instrumental in approval by Dale Carnegie Foundation, donation of the land, securing the finances, and volunteer support to complete the library project . She gave information about the continuing efforts to maintain the Library which is one of a few remaining Carnegie libraries.

President Clydelle Selby recognized new members Mary Ann Green, Sarah Hardwick, Brenda Hamner , Diana Hood, Wanda Kirpatrick and Ginger Turner. Hostesses Kay Smith, Renee Walker, and Clydelle Selby provided a tasty assortment of refreshments.

Clydelle held the business meeting to have officers and committee chairperson’s reports. The club members present chose to recognize Jay Grindstaff and Patsy Faubion as Honorary members. Each have actively served the Ballinger Woman’s Club for more than 50 years.

The Christmas Tea, a function of which proceeds help support the library, was mentioned regarding volunteers needed to decorate tables.
