Every summer I volunteer to help in Vacation Bible School. It is a program that teaches the children about God, the Bible, and Jesus Christ. One of the jobs I volunteer for is the kool-aid taster or sampler. Sometimes they don’t get the kool-aid sweet quite enough and they have to add more sugar.

As I was reading my Bible this morning and thinking about my life I became aware that my life or heart is not sweet enough. I fall short of where God wants me to be, (Romans 3:23) As I prayed I called upon God for mercy and I also asked him to sweeten my heart. He does that by the filling or indwelling of the Holy Spirit. I confess or acknowledge the areas that I fall short and ask for help.

I know that in my natural self-dwells no good thing and my heart can be very deceitful, (Jeremiah 17:9). I call upon God for help so that I can respond differently to everyday life. I can have more love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, (Galatians 5:22). If we have put our faith in Christ Jesus and are born from His spirit, let us abide in His spirit. Then we will be like the Kool-Aid that is properly sweetened, “just right”. See you in church next Sunday. Brother J
